Past Student Rabbi Program
Temple Shalom has been very proud to welcome so many student rabbis into our Jewish community. In partnership with The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), Temple Shalom was a place for these students to share what they learned and grow into their chosen path.
Our student rabbi program ended when we welcomed Rabbi Jay and Judy as our permanent clergy but we will forever be better for all of the students who came before them. Here are some of their stories.

Emily Katcher
Leading Temple Shalom: June 2019 - May 2020 Student Rabbi Emily Katcher has been leading and teaching in Jewish communities for over 20 years. She has served as a Cantorial Soloist, a Song leader, an Education Director, a Teacher and as a Student Rabbi. Emily is currently a Rabbinical Student at the Academy for Jewish Religion, Los Angeles, a transdenominational seminary training Rabbis, Cantors and Chaplains to serve diverse modern Jewish communities. Her BA is in Near Eastern Religion from Cal State Long Beach. Where she is now: Emily became the Rabbi for Congregation Beth Hatikvah, the Jewish Community on the Kitsap Peninsula. |

Megan Brumer
Leading Temple Shalom: August 2018 - May 2019 Student Rabbi Megan Brumer is a student with the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles. She grew up in Bellevue, Washington. Where she is now: Since September 2019, Megan has been a rabbinic intern at the Stephen Wise Temple and Wise School. |
